Spinning Plates

Have you ever seen one of those performers that spins plates like you’d spin a frisbee or a basketball on your finger? And they keep adding spinning plates and balancing on their arms their legs their head?

That’s all of us, but our plates are our personal lives, our professional lives, and our relationships and we’ve gotta keep spinning those plates or they’ll fall off and break and we keep adding plate after plate after plate… Are you relating to this even if a little anxiously?

Identifying this and identifying what plates you’re spinning is useful. I guarantee you, some of the plates you’re spinning, you’ve forgotten about or maybe you don’t even need or want anymore. But some of them are mandatory…

So, the GREAT SIMPLIFIER, is thinking of everything you’re doing, everything you’re thinking, everything you’re BEING…as a balance. So What’s wobbly? What do I need to rebalance? What do I need MORE of, LESS of, or, do I need something different all together? Spin faster? Slow things down? Do I need to lean this way, that way, or go a whole new direction??

Have you ever heard the saying “a question well asked is half answered”? How about this one; “ask and you shall…. RECEIVE right!? So here’s the question I want you to start asking yourself in the midst of your adventure, whether its going good, bad, or great.

I want you to ask “what do I need to rebalance”? Is it something in me? Something in my work? Or something about a relationship that needs rebalancing? Do I need a little more of something or a little less. Do I need to get a little closer? Or back off a little?

If you start asking these questions, you’re going to rebalance more effectively.

These are the questions that let you find YOUR balance and play the balancing game the way you want instead of frantically spinning plates afraid one or the other is going to shatter.
